Joss didn't seem at all phased by the less-than-flattering gaze Haley sent his way, benignly returning it in a manner that made you wonder if he was truly oblivious enough not to be aware of the disdain in his student's eyes. He came off that way to most others at first; stupidly naive, willing to trust teenage boys, who categorically weren't trustworthy.
Every time the boys argued, it was like a ping-pong match, his gaze flickering from one to the other, nothing more than mild curiosity in his eyes. People who knew him understood that it was a good trait of his, this amicable sense he always had about him. Others deemed it as being cow-like, uncomfortably relaxed, especially if he were in a situation that required respect for him, like being a teacher. By no means did he expect the kids to respect him--it had been a difficult choice to even use such a title as 'Mr.'
"Well, then," He replied, cheerful as ever despite the chilly treatment, "I guess using Seb would be the best to avoid any Disney references, assuming that he has the same opinion as you." He would have the song stuck in his head for the rest of the day, though. He'd have to watch it with Sammy whenever he saw her next. Sometimes, he wasn't totally sure who enjoyed Disney movies more; him or the four-year-old.
"I suppose you can do the interpretive dance together," He replied. One more couldn't hurt much. Oh, and it was so childish, but Joss was tempted to use their mockingly serious confessions of being one person against them, to use it against them later on just for fun. He couldn't help but want to play to the game Seb was obviously getting himself involved in.
The two began talking about something he was obviously not related to, so he shifted his attention to some of the new students that were wandering in. He could sense Haley giving them the same resentful look he himself had received, watching as Kida cringed. Making sure their exchange was over, the teacher wheeled over in his desk chair (too lazy to stand up, of course) and approached the two. More veteran teachers probably wouldn't but themselves out here like this, but that was not a concern to him. "Hi, I'm Mr. Grayson," Joss introduced himself to Kida and Ern. "Do you have your assignments from the summer?"
